Dr Paul Smith completed his MRI Musculoskeletal Fellowship training at Regional Imaging / MIA, which featured a heavy sports medicine case load, with focus on MR imaging, ultrasound and interventional procedures. Dr Smith graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2004, prior to which he read Arts and completed a Bachelor Science with Honours.
After completing his residency years at the Royal Melbourne and Alfred Hospitals, Dr Smith trained in Radiology at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne. There, he completed general intervention, body and neuroradiology fellowships. Subsequent to this, Dr Smith spent time training in body imaging, which included musculoskeletal tumour imaging, at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.
Dr Smith first joined the Epworth Medical Imaging team at Epworth Richmond this year, having previously worked for Regional Imaging as a Consultant Radiologist. He currently sits on the Medical Imaging Advisory Board for the School of Medicine, at Deakin University, and the Epworth Geelong, Medical Advisory Board.Whilst Dr Smith acknowledges his broad range of subspecialty interests, he has subspecialty skills in Interventional Radiology, and his main diagnostic expertise lies in Musculoskeletal and Body imaging.
He has presented at numerous international conferences, and continues to pursue his research interests. Dr Smith has a keen interest in the application of information technology in radiology, and is currently working on projects to enhance Radiologist and patient experience of Radiology.
